Don’t pitch in a Bentley.
Early in my career, my mentor told me a story about how a service provider pitched him his services. He arrived in a Bentley.
He was successful, so of course, he was entitled to this vehicle. But this job had a strict budget that needed to be managed tightly.
He ended up passing on this service provider, and I would, too, today.
Don’t show up to a fundraising meeting wearing a fancy watch. Why? You’re asking for money.
Don’t drive your exotic car to the office where you just cut 10% of the staff.
People infer things by not only how we carry ourselves but also how we dress (or what we drive). Don’t make that mistake and lose the opportunity before you even get it.
