Revenue growth isn’t everything.
For revenue is too simplistic a metric to track on its own.
As a growing startup, if your sole focus is on rapidly scaling revenue at all costs, you may be ignoring developing problems within your company that will arise from the pressures of rapid scaling.
Problems like mounting costs, declining morale within your team, profits, unit economics, and much more.
Sure, a strong FP&A process and strong operating standards and procedures can help spot oncoming problems. However, those are just systems to point out potential problems, not solutions in themselves to solving the problems of fast scaling.
The issue is one of mindset, a misled fixation that revenue cures all problems.
It doesn’t.
The sooner you realize this, the sooner you will be a better business leader.
